We take visitors through sprawling vineyards to a private tasting location. The tour includes stops to meet our furry friends including zebras, water buffalo, llamas, and other creatures. I would have rather gone to a zoo, or just to a winery. An adventure in an open top modified safari vehicle through Malibus largest operating vineyard. The giraffe visit was very exciting, but the rest of the tour fell a little flat. Most in the group were not wine drinkers, oddly. Then we had our final stop for red wines. Anyway, then we got wine and again Cindy was wonderful and took pictures of our group in front of the vines. It would have been more interesting to see them in a bit of habitat. The animals are kept like any farm animals might be. It felt like a very, very limited and lame zoo. We also saw water buffalo in a pen across from the zebras. The animals are pretty tame and more than happy to take the treats you offer which makes it kind of sad. After that we went to visit and feed llamas and donkeys (meh) and then a Scottish highland cow (meh) and some penned zebras. We got to feed him lettuce and get pictures with him. Our first stop was to meet Stanley the very friendly giraffe. The tour itself was more about the property and the family's story rather than the animals. Our driver (forgot his name) poured our wine and was good about talking about each wine and trying to educate. Our guide Cindy was the best - very friendly and knowledgeable. The trucks are fun, the guides were excellent. We easily could have shown up later and still have been fine. We arrived half an hour early and our tour departed 15 minutes late. I would recommend this tour to anyone!įirst of all, all of the reviews will tell you to arrive early. The wines were tasty and were more the icing on the cake of this tour than a main attraction. It was great to see and feed so many animals and to explore the beautiful property. We were able to take pictures and enjoy a nice walk around the area. We tried three red wines, again being able to revisit our favorites, and had some crackers and dips. Lastly, we stopped at one of the wedding locations at the property which opened into beautiful vineyards and a scenic hill. Ultra Athlete and longevity expert Rich Roll owns a multi million dollar Malibu. Stanley was very happy to eat all the lettuce we had to offer and we got to spend a fair amount of time feeding him and taking pictures. 16 stunning acres on the coast of Lake Erie, in the heart of wine country. Our next stop was to see Stanley the giraffe as well as his goat and peacock neighbors. The zebras apparently bite, but it was still fun to get close to them and feed them carefully. We were able to feed them all and take photos with them and we were given plenty of time to do so. The guides were friendly and took our photos when requested.Īt our next stop, there were a number of corrals for different types of cows, steer, zebras, horses and llamas. We were given three different white wines to try at this location and we able to revisit our favorites when we were done. They also had baby alpacas to pet, a donkey and a miniature pony. Our first stop was a beautiful open grassy area where you could see horses. This was a very fun tour on a beautiful property! We boarded an open top safari vehicle while our guide told us about the history of the property. On the positive side, we did the “Flight of Voices” hike and concert, so we encountered musicians along the trail who were great, and the concert was fantastic! Every musician was very talented and the voices were superb - such a great way to enjoy the music outside on the lawn with some very good wine. How about a couple giraffes for the Malibu ranch? The description when I bought the tickets set my expectations to see some exotic animals, so when I asked about it, we were told they did have zebras and giraffes and other cool animals but they were sent to Texas for a new location they were starting up. The biggest disappointment though, was that there were NO ANIMALS on the hike. PLEASE NOTE: As an animal sanctuary, feeding and physical contact is not a part of the experience, however guests will observe a unique animal encounter led by one of our trained professionals. Our guide Brooke was very sweet and engaging and answered questions that we asked, but I was disappointed that this was just a hike with no real tour or explanation offered about what we were seeing along the hike, so we only learned what we asked about along the way, and only a couple of us in the front would have heard any of that.
